Lapu-Lapu

Standing on the beaches of Mactan, Lapu-Lapu acknowledges the presence of
Ferdinand Magellan and his entourage of armed Spaniards.
He rallied his troops to charge. And after deafening echoes of blood dripping
on the sands, Magellan finally surrendered his fate on the shores of Mactan.
And of Lapu-Lapu,he stands up until now – as the mythical hero who defeated
the Great Magellan.

No one knows for sure who killed Magellan.
Anyway, here’s my version of the Lapu-Lapu, the legend, of Islas Filipinas.

It took me a little while to finish this piece. I adjusted to a new coloring scheme
to make the image look as though it’s “burning.” And my study on water splashes did
help me on this piece. But I have to do lots of research on the weapon.
It was supposed to be a Kris with a handle made out of Chinese porcelain
or an Elephant tusk, perhaps? And more study on everything else.
